West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine is seeking a proven leader to serve as Chief of the Hematology/Oncology section at the WVU Cancer Institute. 

The WVU Cancer Institute provides care to over 100,000 patients annually.  The section includes 55 physicians and APPs, at 13 sites with opportunity for further growth and expansion of services across the WVU Health System. 

The Chief will provide leadership in the delivery of patient-centered care within a growing, integrated health care system.  In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.  Opportunities exist to participate in clinical and translational research.  

Candidates should have excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and maintain a collegial department culture.  Administrative experience should include quality, operations, and recruitment. An understanding of critical issues in rural healthcare is highly desired.  Candidates with current academic experience in a multi-hospital system are highly desired.  

Applicants must be board certified in hematology and/or oncology, have an MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree, and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license.  A minimum of three years of experience in a leadership role in a complex, multi-faceted university or large clinical group practice is preferred, as well as a proven ability to provide leadership to other physicians, health care professionals, support staff, and students.  Applicants must meet all requirements by the time of appointment. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications.
