MGH Community Oncology Position: Medical Director, Cooley-Dickinson Hospital

Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, Division of Hematology/Oncology

Established in 1811, Massachusetts General Hospital is one of the world’s most distinguished academic medical centers, and is the original and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. The Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center is among the leading cancer care providers in the United States. It is a founding member of a Harvard Medical School consortium designated by the National Cancer Institute as a comprehensive cancer center, forming the largest cancer research collaboration in the country. At Mass General, promising new treatments are revolutionizing the future of cancer medicine.

The Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center currently seeks applications from board-certified or board-eligible medical oncologists/hematologists for a medical director role based at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital, a full service MGH-affiliate community hospital in beautiful Western Massachusetts, an hour and a half from Boston. In addition to the hematology/oncology practice at CDH, there is onsite Radiation Oncology with MGPO radiation oncologists. While primarily focused in the community, this position will have strong oversight and connections to the Boston campus.

Interested candidates should have a record of success in the clinical care of hematology/oncology patients. Confidence working in a community environment, and dedication and willingness to participate in a multidisciplinary care setting are essential. Ideal candidates will have experience leading multidisciplinary teams of physicians and other health professionals and will be comfortable balancing both clinical and administrative responsibilities.

From a patient care perspective, candidates should be caring, compassionate, willing to involve patients and families in the decision-making process, and able to coordinate care with colleagues in various departments. A specific clinical interest in Breast, Lung, Gynecologic, Genitourinary, or Colorectal Cancer would be of particular interest.

From an administrative perspective, candidates must be motivated to work with leadership teams in the community and on the Boston campus to lead the development of the cancer program at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital. Previous experience in development of a program or service line is preferred.  An entrepreneurial approach to the development and future growth of a cancer practice is a must.

Physicians with Massachusetts licensure preferred.

Women and minority candidates are urged to apply. Interested applicants are invited to submit their curriculum vitae and names of three references to:
