Melanoma Medical Oncology – Open Rank Clinical Faculty (CFA) Advertisement

The Department of Melanoma Medical Oncology (MMO) at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center invites applicants for a full-time clinical appointment at the level of assistant, associate, or full professor. MMO includes faculty and staff involved in patient care and clinical, translational, and basic research focused on advancing knowledge and improving the outcomes of patients with melanoma. MMO is also committed to educating the next generation leaders in this field through Melanoma Medical Oncology Fellowship Program, Division of Cancer Medicine Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program, and weekly departmental meetings and seminars. The final rank of this appointment will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications. We are seeking a highly motivated physician who has expertise in medical oncology, ideally with interest and experience in melanoma.

MMO has a rich portfolio of investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials for melanoma patients using combination immune, targeted, and cellular therapies and many ongoing translational and basic science laboratory research projects focusing on understanding the molecular basis for therapeutic resistance development and developing novel combination therapies. Some of the significant clinical and translational research areas are immunotherapy drug development, targeted therapy, melanoma brain metastasis and leptomeningeal disease, neo-adjuvant therapy, uveal, acral lentiginous, and mucosal melanomas, and cellular therapies. The position offers professional growth and development, clinically and scientifically, and to become an active member of a dedicated and passionate team of clinicians, physician-scientists, and clinical, basic science, and translational investigators.

The faculty member will have access to MMO’s substantial patient resources, research infrastructure, and educational training programs. In addition, MMO is currently supported by an NIH-funded Melanoma SPORE, the MD Anderson Moon Shot program, and other programmatic and peer-reviewed grants that facilitate the department’s translational research initiatives.

Responsibilities will include clinical care in the outpatient and inpatient settings, teaching and preceptorship of fellows, and participation in enrollment to priority clinical trials. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to be an effective team player, and a compassionate caring physician dedicated to the clinical care of melanoma patients, and to advancing knowledge through clinical management and care of patients on clinical trials.

Applicants should hold or be eligible for medical licensure in Texas and must possess an MD or degree with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in the subspecialty of medical oncology.

In order to ensure full consideration, please send curriculum vitae, a letter of application and a list of three to five references to:  Dr. Michael Davies, M.D., Ph.D., Chair and Professor, Department of Melanoma Medical Oncology, MD Anderson Cancer Center, via email to Brandi Dickerson, Executive Assistant, at BWoods@mdanderson.org.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
