Balance of Subspecialty Medical Oncology, income and lifestyle for oncologists with the Parkview Cancer Institute

Parkview Health

There are rewarding opportunities for Board Eligible/Board Certified oncologists and hematologists to join the Parkview Health team and play an essential role in our vision to be the best Regional Cancer Program in the country.  Parkview Cancer Institute is a 200,000 square foot state of the art cancer institute located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Attached to a tertiary regional medical center, our state-of-the-art facility opened its doors in June 2018. Parkview Cancer Institute serves the oncology needs for Parkview Health system – a 2 billion dollar+ not-for-profit,  multihospital health system with oncology cases coming to the institute for specialty cancer care.  New fellowship grads and established physicians are welcome to apply for a position.

All oncologists are focused on a single subspecialty disease site or hematology only, allowing them to develop subject matter expertise.

We have a novel clinical model which allows for disease site-based management.  We combine our specialists into clinics, based on diseases and wrap the treatments in concierge-level care with world-class support services.  Our cancer patients have a strong supportive care program to optimize their cancer care journey – from screening to survivorship.

Our innovative institute enhances clinical care by incorporating a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. We also have a robust research infrastructure and teaching opportunities with medical students and residents with our GME program for those interested.

The Cancer Institute serves as a tertiary care referral center and provides an opportunity for faculty involvement with the IU School of Medicine and the residency program. Connections to industry for trials and opportunities for cooperative and investigator-initiated research are available and encouraged.  We have had approximately 8% of patients on trial.

We have a subspecialized innovative model that centers around the disease and patient.  The Parkview Cancer Institute takes pride in cutting-edge clinical care and optimal patient experience.  All patients are reviewed at our multidisciplinary Tumor Board, and supported by robust navigation and supportive care infrastructure.

The clinical model involves working in multi-specialty tumor site teams in our state-of-the-art institute, and predominantly outpatient practice, with a limited call at a single tertiary hospital.  Parkview Cancer Institute provides an excellent blend of compensation, sub-specialization, and lifestyle.

Our physician-led institute, serving northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio populations, empowers our patients and their families to get multi-disciplinary treatment they desire in one single location. We have the opportunity to be highly selective and incorporate candidates who are a good fit.  We are looking for physicians who are focused on high-quality subspecialized patient care, looking to establish their long-term career, and can become regional experts in clinical care.

The Parkview Cancer Institute is a certified member of MD Anderson Cancer Network®, a program of MD Anderson Cancer Center, to bring the nation’s leading cancer expertise to patients in the northeast Indiana region.  Our medical oncologists and surgical oncology subspecialists have the opportunity to be certified through the MD Anderson affiliated network.  As a certified member, Parkview Cancer Institute met rigorous standards to participate in MD Anderson’s quality improvement and best practices program.  PCI is also a COC accredited comprehensive community cancer center with multiple subspecialty accreditations.

As an employed physician of Parkview Health, you will receive an excellent salary package. The benefits program provides a comprehensive array of benefits and services to physicians, including but not limited to: highly competitive salaries, annual incentive compensation opportunity, commencement bonus, student loan assistance up to $150k, paid relocation, paid malpractice insurance, match retirement contribution plan, flexible spending accounts, health insurance, life insurance, long and short term disability, dues, licensure & memberships, annual physician allowance (for CME’s and other qualified expenses) as well as many other non-traditional benefits.

Current positions include the following board-eligible/certified oncologists: Breast Surgeon, Breast Medical Oncologist, Lung and/or Head & Neck focused Medical Oncologist, Genitourinary Medical Oncologist, Hematologist, Gynecologic Cancer Subspecialized Medical Oncologist.
