The Caryl and Israel Englander Institute for Precision Medicine and the Department of Medicine

Clinical Research Fellowship in Precision Medicine

The Englander Institute for Precision Medicine and the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine offer a two-year Research Clinical Fellowship in Precision Medicine.  With a major exposure to a comprehensive translational research component, this program will focus on the application of state-of-the-art technologies in patient care with focus in oncology.

Objectives: The goal of this Clinical Research Fellowship program is to gain expertise in the application of advanced sequencing technologies, familiarize with novel tools to interpret next-generation sequencing data, and to become leaders in the field of Precision Medicine.  The Research Clinical Fellow will act as a bridge between oncologists, pathologists, surgeons, computational biologists and basic scientists, in order to use next generation sequencing of tumor genomes and pre-clinical models in high impact research studies.

Responsibilities and learning opportunities:

  • To familiarize with operation of next-generation sequencing platforms.
  • To learn about the data processing pipeline and bioinformatics aspects of next-generation sequencing.
  • To be involved in the development and validation of research assays in precision oncology.
  • To participate in activities including our Precision Medicine Research Conference.
  • To develop skills in sequencing data interpretation with computational scientists and bioinformaticians.

Requirements: Oncologists and medical trainees will be considered. Prior experience in molecular biology/molecular pathology is encouraged.

Number of Appointments: One position is available to start around March 1, 2022.

Facilities: The Englander Institute for Precision Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine is a translational research hub to promote molecular diagnostics and therapeutics.

Our physician-scientists use in our state-of-the-art laboratories to identify the genetic alterations that give rise to and drive each patient’s illness.

Physician-scientists at the Institute utilize the most advanced gene-sequencing technologies and novel computational algorithms to identify the genetic alterations that give rise to and drive each patient’s illness. The Institute’s main research resources are next-generation genomics, pathology, biobanking and computational biology, all of which facilitate the most efficient coupling of potentially new, biologically relevant targets to the right cancer patients.
