Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, America’s first cancer center and New York State’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center outside the New York City Metropolitan area, is seeking to fill two positions, recruiting for an academic leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Cancer Genetics & Genomics as well as a Director of Cancer Genomics. These positions could be filled by one highly qualified candidate, or by two separate faculty members.  Roswell Park’s mission is focused on the prevention, treatment, and cure of cancer.

Applicants for the Chair of Cancer Genetics & Genomics will have demonstrated a well-established and exemplary record of research accomplishments, experience in coordinating and administering multidisciplinary programs, and willingness and ability to lead a program in genetic and genomics with an accomplished group of investigators. Responsibilities for this Chair leadership position include overseeing all aspects of the Department, providing guidance for NCI-funded graduate education in cancer genetics, and fostering research across a range of scientific fields within the Cancer Center. The Department’s research endeavors are expected to extend through a spectrum of scientific fields relevant to cancer genetics and to include transdisciplinary collaborations across programs and departments at Roswell Park, and with other academic institutions.

The Department of Cancer Genetics & Genomics forms the core for the NCI Cancer Center Support Grant program in Genetics & Genomics. Successful candidates will help build upon the Department’s existing strengths, and work to provide the vision and academic leadership that will bring the Department to the next level of excellence. The Chair will have substantial opportunities for recruitment of new faculty.

Applicants for the Director of Cancer Genomics will lead a translational effort serving as Co-leader of the institute’s NCI Cancer Center Support Grant program in Genetics & Genomics, providing guidance for NCI-funded graduate education in cancer genomics, and fostering research across a range of scientific fields within the Cancer Center related to clinical genomics.  Applicants are required to be BC/BE in the medical fields of hematology or medical oncology, pathology, radiology, or surgery and be eligible for a NY State Medical License. The successful applicant is required to have direct input to patient care and participate in clinical care.

MD and/or PhD candidates who possess the requisite experience in cancer genetics and cancer genomics may be considered and offered the opportunity to serve in both roles as a combined position.  Salary and total package are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, and excellent fringe benefits are offered.
