Anchored with locations in Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, Ontario and Baker City, with telemedicine opportunities through the region, this full-spectrum practice is QOPI certified and CoC accredited, offering rewarding opportunities including over 100 clinical trials.  The integrated program also has leading surgical expertise with Idaho’s only fellowship-trained surgical oncologist along with other highly specialized, fellowship-trained physicians to support a growing program. 

Join the Saint Alphonsus Cancer Institute to provide oncology services to a rural community while being part of a large group practice with eight other hematology/oncologists in bringing cutting edge treatments to the Treasure Valley through our advanced clinical trials program and robust surgical oncology team. This position will primarily be located on the Ontario campus plus one day of outreach to Baker City. 

Support Services: Full-service cancer center with medical oncology supported by a large group of community primary care physicians and surgeons.  Integrative team approach with nurse navigation, social work support, genetic counseling, clinical trials and nutrition services.  Weekly regional tumor boards provide opportunity to collaborate with our fellowship trained surgeons in breast, plastic/reconstruction, GYN oncology, surgical oncology, colorectal, neurosurgery, thoracic and esophageal.  Innovative programs include lung cancer screening, lung nodule clinic, and robust clinical trials through the Montana Cancer Consortium. 

Schedule: 4-day work week, M-F with a minimum of 32 hours of patient contact time - includes clinic, treatments, and rounding as needed. One day a week travel to Baker City for clinic coverage.

Call: 1:9 shared equitably on evenings and weekends. Inpatient unit covered by oncology hospitalist Monday through Friday 8-5.

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree;
  • Successful completion of an accredited ACGME/AOA Internal Medicine residency program & Medical Oncology/Hematology fellowship;
  • Board certified or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment;
  • Obtain Oregon and Idaho medical licensure and granting of privileges at SAMC-Ontario, SAMC–Baker City and other health system affiliated hospitals as needed;
  • Valid controlled substance registration with Board of Pharmacy and DEA.

Community: Located across from each other on the Snake River, where it forms the Idaho-Oregon border, Ontario, Oregon and Fruitland, Idaho serve as the retail, service, and medical center for 70,000 people within a 20-mile radius. Interstate 84 and Oregon Highways 20/26, 30, and 201 all pass through Ontario. Ontario/Fruitland is one hour from Boise, Idaho. The Boise Airport (BOI) is the principal airport serving the region. It is a major commercial airport, where several major airlines provide daily flights to medium and large cities in all directions.
