Position description

The Division of Hematology/Oncology (http://med.ucsd.edu) in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division is actively recruiting clinicians to build and expand our gastrointestinal medical oncology team, with focused interests in the treatment of tumors the digestive system.

 

The gastrointestinal oncology program is based at the Moores Cancer Center, the only NCI designated cancer center in the region. It is multidisciplinary in nature and is one of the largest and most rapidly growing cancer programs at UC San Diego.

 

Selected candidate(s) will be expected to contribute to an outstanding research and clinical program in gastrointestinal oncology and have a commitment to excellence in patient care. The individual will participate in the clinical programs and educational activities of the Division.

 

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. In-Residence appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.

 

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be board certified/eligible in Medical Oncology. Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

 

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with a track record of successful translational research or clinical trials leadership are preferred.
