Breast Surgery Opportunity on the Gulf Coast

Infirmary Health has been delivering high quality health care for over 100 years and is the largest integrated health care system in South Alabama and along the Central Gulf Coast. It services an area encompassing more than 1.3 million people and has nearly 60 percent of the health care market share in the region. With four hospitals, an employed multi-specialty group of 230 physicians and over 30 outpatient facilities, Infirmary Health is a leading health care provider in the community.

Under Infirmary Cancer Care, Infirmary Health has developed an integrated, system wide, multi-disciplinary cancer program. The core principals of development include academic orientation, integrated disease specific groups, active clinical research and quality care delivery. The team is comprised of: 5 Medical Oncologists, 4 Radiation Oncologists, 4 Surgical Oncologists, and a Gynecological Oncologist that provide care at 2 multi-disciplinary cancer centers and 3 satellite offices. Infirmary Cancer Care is seeking an additional Breast Surgeon to join its team and be part of the continued growth of the program.

Infirmary Cancer Care’s program has been recognized by the Commission on Cancer for our commitment to providing comprehensive, high-quality and multidisciplinary patient care. Infirmary Cancer Care has also earned an accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Infirmary Cancer Care is currently one of three NAPBC-accredited centers in the state of Alabama.

The current breast program includes 2 dedicated Breast Surgeons, 2 Radiation Oncologists, 2 Medical Oncologists, 6 Breast Radiologists, dedicated breast pathology, breast navigation, genetic screening/counseling, a nurse practitioner driven high-risk breast clinic, lymphedema therapy, breast clinical trials, and social services for breast cancer patients. There are two dedicated breast centers and six additional screening mammography centers. Infirmary Health screened more than 25,000 women in 2021. Last year Infirmary Cancer Care had 404 analytical breast cancer cases.

Breast Fellowship trained physicians are encouraged to apply. Those completing fellowships and practicing physicians with clinical or academic experience are welcome to apply. Infirmary Cancer Care offers competitive compensation & recruitment packages for each specialty.
