Open Rank, Clinical Faculty Appointment

The Department of Neuro-Oncology invites applicants for a full-time Open Rank, Clinical Faculty Appointment (CFA) position.  This faculty position is designated to provide primarily clinical expertise in neurophysiology, and electrophysiologic procedures of relevance to neurology and the cancer population. The position will also provide coverage for cancer neurology and general neurology care for patients with neurological complications of cancer and cancer therapy on the central nervous system. Training and/or experience in intraoperative monitoring and neurophysiologic procedures would be an important requirement for this position. 

It is anticipated that candidates will predominantly provide clinical care and expertise to patients in MD Anderson Cancer Center but will also be expected to engage in scholarly activities. Candidates should demonstrate potential for collaboration with other services and in academic activities related to the patient population they serve including working closely with academic partners and trainees to help with research and publications in this field. This position requires the ability to synthesize information, formulate creative approaches for investigative inquiry, and function in a team environment.

The successful candidate will be able to:

-  Practice clinical medicine in an exemplary manner.  Must be capable of providing complete and thorough history and physical patient examinations and be able to perform invasive procedures as dictated by the physician's subspecialty.

-  Support and engage in clinical research and scholarly activities to enhance the academic environment of the department. Help develop programs of clinical care, research and scholarly activities in keeping within the goals of the department.

-  Provide a balanced and integrated educational program for medical students, residents, and fellows. Attend and participate in division/department teaching and continuing education.

-  Represent the Department in local, regional, state, and national matters pertaining to the field.

-  Keep abreast of current approaches in the management of patients through attendance at continuing education conferences in the specialty. Provide a role model as a practitioner for faculty, fellows, residents and students. Provide peer review for assessing the clinical practice of faculty within the department.

Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and should be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and be eligible for medical licensure in Texas. Refer to the Neuro-Oncology webpage for additional information about the department and its programs.
