The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. (TPMG - Kaiser Permanente Northern California) is one of the largest multispecialty medical groups in the nation with over 9,000 physicians, 22 medical centers, numerous clinics throughout Northern and Central California, and a 75-year tradition of providing quality medical care. Our Division of Research currently has the following opportunity for an investigator with a research focus in delivery science related to cancer care. 

Research Scientist Position in Cancer Care Delivery Research
Opening in Oakland, California

This individual will be expected to develop an independently funded research program, conduct scholarly research that is recognized nationally and internationally, and collaborate with Kaiser Permanente clinicians and leadership in evaluating or developing interventions to enhance the delivery of evidence-based cancer care. The investigator may be appointed at the assistant professor, associate professor, or professor-equivalent level.

Investigators in the Division of Research draw on rich clinical data derived from a comprehensive, state-of-the-art electronic health record system and enjoy direct access to a highly diverse population of >4.5 million members afforded by its location within Kaiser Permanente Northern California. The group has more than 60 research scientists leading internally and externally funded research programs across the spectrum of epidemiology, health care delivery research and implementation science.

This Research Scientist position calls for experience in clinical settings and expertise in evaluating clinical and patient-centered outcomes among cancer patients. This research scientist will spend most of his/her time on research on the effectiveness or implementation of clinical interventions and approaches to health care delivery leading to publication in major journals, and develop an externally funded research portfolio. Success in this position depends on the ability to collaborate with other researchers, physicians, and program leaders within Kaiser Permanente, and develop collaborations to advance research in implementation and delivery science anywhere along the cancer care continuum, from screening, to treatment, to survivorship, to palliative and end of life care. 

Preferred qualifications include an MD with expertise in oncology and public health or a related field, or PhD or equivalent in epidemiology, health services research, biostatistics, or a related field and postdoctoral research fellowship experience
