Job Details

Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois delivers World Class Care close to home.  Throughout our network and with our foundation based upon research, we strive to “Deliver Tomorrow’s Treatments…Today.”

Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois (CCSI) seeks a board certified/eligible medical oncologist to join our growing team in the greater St. Louis Metro East and Central Illinois regions.  CCSI is composed of 21 medical/radiation oncology physicians and 5 mid-level providers.  CCSI is a physician owned and governed group that provides the oncology care for a large portion of Central and Southern Illinois.  With more than 6,500 new referrals a year, and growing, CCSI is inviting energetic specialists who enjoy and desire a practice focused on quality patient care, clinical research, as well as physician ownership, innovation, and governance to consider us as their new medical home.

CCSI physician’s commitment to quality patient care has resulted in achievement and maintenance of QOPI certification.  CCSI has been nationally recognized by ASCO for winning the Clinical Trials Participation Award twice as well as the ASCO Conquer Cancer Foundation grant award for its innovative clinical trials web site.  Multiple CCSI physicians have been recognized by the NCI for their clinical trial accrual, served as principal investigators of NCTN sponsored clinical trials, authored numerous peer reviewed manuscripts, and received the some of the highest individual awards from the NCI and ACCC for community science and research excellence.  CCSI recently published its successful strategy for navigating the Medicare OCM model in the JOP.  CCSI continues to work with the oncology community to maintain its independence and further community oncology practice.  Such efforts resulting in innovation have been documented in the Cancer Letter publication describing the unique mobile compounding pharmacy operationalized to enhance access to care in rural areas.

CCSI utilizes the EPIC EMR across its four full-time centers and 21 part-time clinics.  CCSI’s size and geographic footprint support practice owned and operated infusion centers in all clinics, multiple imaging centers including PET/CT technology, a practice owned Varian based radiation oncology service, an infusion based and retail oncology dispensing pharmacy, and its own multi-site laboratory which includes flow cytometry.

The group supports a rapid track to full partnership and equity.   New physicians are encouraged to quickly build their patient schedules through favorable directing of the practice’s new patient referrals.

Call for new physicians is similar to the partner call schedule with mild variation by location within the practice.  New physicians are provided a very competitive and comprehensive compensation package.  Additionally, partnership requirements are easily achieved and clearly delineated at the outset.  Medical oncology partners of CCSI have the opportunity to earn significantly more than one standard deviation above the MGMA mean while achieving an equity stake in a thriving practice.

The quality of life for our physicians and their families is excellent with abundant opportunities for young families to thrive with outstanding schools, a relatively low cost of living, and easy access to countless activities in both St. Louis and Chicago.

Positions currently open within the practice are located in the St. Louis Metro East area at the Cancer Care Center of O’Fallon, and in our largest center, the Cancer Care Center of Decatur.   Candidates requiring application for a j-1b waiver are encouraged to apply, as some of our opportunities are located in health manpower shortage areas.

Cancer Care Specialists is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.  All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.

CCSI also recognizes its responsibility to the community we serve, and we strive to be careful stewards of our resources and environment.
