About Us

As a world-class academic and health care system, Duke Health strives to transform medicine and health locally and globally through innovative scientific research, rapid translation of breakthrough discoveries, educating future clinical and scientific leaders, advocating and practicing evidence-based medicine to improve community health, and leading efforts to eliminate health inequalities.

The Duke Division of Medical Oncology is internationally recognized for its novel approaches to treating patients who present with all stages and subtypes of head and neck cancer.  Specialists in medicine, surgery, radiation therapy, radiology, pathology and palliative care who concentrate in the care of patients with head and neck cancer meet at least weekly to review difficult cases, debate new therapy plans, and formulate treatment algorithms.  Duke’s clinicians and scientists work in close proximity, bringing patients the benefit of a true “bench-to-bedside” approach to care that offers promising new therapies quickly to those who need them most.  The result of these efforts is a program unsurpassed in our service region and unequaled in most parts of the country or the world.

The greater Triangle area of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, has a population of more than two million residents that offers diverse opportunity. From urban loft living to suburban and rural family homes with acreage – there are options for every lifestyle. The Research Triangle Park (RTP) lies in the midst of the area, a globally prominent research and development center conceived around the main academic centers – Duke University, University of North Carolina, and North Carolina State University. This trio of leading universities, combined with the RTP, has helped create a region that is culturally diverse, economically resilient, and nationally recognized as a wonderful place to live.  To learn more about the Duke and Greater Triangle communities, visit https://www.discoverdurham.com/
