The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology /Oncology is seeking to recruit a tenure track faculty member at the Professor level. We seek a candidate who uses cutting-edge approaches to address cancer-related mechanisms that have a strong translational relevance. The candidate will have a record of peer reviewed grants and publications which has contributed to the field of cancer research. Successful candidates will complement existing strengths in the Division, particularly in cancer biology research. These strengths include, but are not limited to, tumor immunology and novel drug discovery for therapeutic interventions.

We are interested in recruiting an outstanding scientist with an interest in forging collaborations and engaging in research involving innovative in vivo technologies. Special interest will be focused on candidates with a unique background in computational mathematics, mechanical engineering, structural biology and drug discovery.

In this position, the faculty member will:

  • Develop and maintain an externally funded internationally recognized research program. Research findings will be disseminated through publishing in top peer-reviewed journals and research presentations at scientific national or international meetings, or through invited presentations at research institutions. Faculty member will provide research mentoring, career and professional development opportunities for undergraduate, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and will be active in service in the department, school, and university.

 

The successful candidate will bring an excellent national and international reputation, and a record of outstanding achievement and research productivity (namely publications and external funding; also teaching/mentoring students/fellows/junior faculty). The candidate will help to develop strategic vision and intellectual leadership, and will promote the mission of collaborative research to enhance translation of research.

Minimum Requirements

 

  • PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in a relevant field. Education and experience requirements may be satisfied by an equivalent combination of education and experience Have proven success in conducting research as demonstrated by impactful publications, grant funding, and mentoring and career development training Relevant work experience in evidence-based translation (program design / development / implementation / evaluation), cancer research, or a related field Training and demonstrated skill in quantitative, qualitative, and/or and mixed methods approaches Other skills: critical thinking and problem solving; strong interpersonal communication skills; excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to interact with diverse study/project participants, faculty, staff, and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • 5 years of relevant work experience as a Principal Investigator/ Project Director/ Program Developer / Lead Evaluator Professional Commitment: Commitment to a health services research career Track record of successful publication and grant writing
