The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services ( invites applications for a Tenure Track (contingent) position in hematology with a research focus on CAR T or other immune-cell therapies at the Associate Professor level.

Qualifications required include a MD, certification in Internal Medicine, eligibility for regular or special licensure in the Province of Alberta, and sub-specialty certification in Hematology. Duties will include providing clinical care to patients with hematological malignancies.  An advanced research degree such as an MSc, MPH, PhD or equivalent research training is also required. The successful candidate will be expected to focus primarily on research activities and would also participate in teaching at the University of Calgary in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate clinical and academic programs. The position will have 75% protected time for research, which will be conducted at the Charbonneau Cancer Institute ( and/or Tom Baker Cancer Centers. These institutes/centers provide a rich environment in which the candidate can lead and collaborate in basic, translational and/or clinical research. A highly competitive startup package will provided, and the candidate will be surrounded by a growing cohort of scientists and clinicians committed to developing next-generation immunotherapies for cancer patients.

Applicants must present evidence of an established, externally funded (at the level of Tri-Council or equivalent peer-reviewed National/International organization) research program focused on CAR T or other immune-cell therapies, and a strong publication record as evidenced by impactful peer-reviewed journal publication in the field. Evidence of successful teaching and graduate supervision is also required, along with evidence of collaborations with other researchers and academic engagement in related professional communities.
