Position Description
The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC) are jointly recruiting for two (2) full-time faculty members in the Division of Medical Oncology, to join our clinical research group focused on breast cancers. This position would be at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, without tenure due to funding (WOT). Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Assistant professors (WOT) are eligible for multi-year appointments and associate professors (WOT) hold indefinite appointments that both align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing clinical and laboratory research programs related to breast cancers. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity and resources to develop his/her own clinical research program. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct clinical research in breast cancers. The position will also involve participation in the clinical and instructional activities of the Division of Medical Oncology. Teaching responsibilities would involve oversight of housestaff and fellows during ambulatory and inpatient activities and delivery of lectures to housestaff, fellows, and the general medical community.

This position will require work to be performed on-site at a Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) facility. SCCA requires all individuals, including University of Washington faculty clinicians, working at an SCCA facility to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Unlike UW’s vaccination policy which is appended below, the SCCA policy does not provide for religious or medical exemptions. As such, a UW offer associated with this recruitment is contingent upon, among other things, the preferred candidate demonstrating that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by no later than the commencement of their appointment.

Anticipated start date would be February 1, 2023.

Qualifications
Requirements include MD (or foreign equivalent), completion of a fellowship in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) eligible or certified in Medical Oncology or Hematology (or foreign equivalent). In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services

Application Instructions
Interested candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a concise statement of their training, research activities, career goals and list of references, as well as a diversity statement of past and planned contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion, along with a letter of application addressed to Dr. Hannah Linden.

Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
University of Washington is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, pregnancy, genetic information, gender identity or expression, age, disability, or protected veteran status.

Commitment to Diversity

The University of Washington is committed to building diversity among its faculty, librarian, staff, and student communities, and articulates that commitment in the UW Diversity Blueprint (http://www.washington.edu/diversity/diversity-blueprint/). COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements and Information

Under Washington State Governor Inslee’s Proclamation 21-14.1, University of Washington (UW) workers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof thereof, or receive a UW-approved medical or religious exemption. This requirement will be a condition of any offer associated with this recruitment. For more information, please visit https://www.washington.edu/coronavirus/vaccination- requirement/.
