The Department of Medical Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) are inviting applications for a Clinical Investigator (MD or MD/PhD). Appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School and the DFCI Department of Medical Oncology will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and institutional policies.

In this position, the successful candidate will build a clinical and translational cancer research program that focuses on interrogation of clinical data and biological specimens utilizing the state-of-the-art resources of the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center and affiliates as well as collaborating with laboratory investigators. The appointee will be encouraged to translate their research into innovative clinical trials, novel biomarkers or preventive interventions and will be part of a working group of investigators who can share knowledge and best practices and in so doing create a dynamic, efficient and coordinated institute-wide platform that further advances our understanding of clinically relevant cancer biology. Candidates with advanced training in research methods are especially desired. Applicants should have demonstrated early success with a strong track record of publication and/or receipt of peer-reviewed funding and/or documented ability to create a promising research program.

Clinical care responsibility will be limited to 25% in an effort to protect time for clinical and translational research. Funding will be provided for 5 years and will include start-up support for research activities. This position will be based at the DFCI and office space will be in the Division where the successful applicant will practice clinically. The investigator is expected to participate in Harvard University courses/workshops for medical students and fellows taught in the School of Medicine and supervise postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in clinical and research settings.

Qualified applicants should have an MD or MD/PhD degree and should be board certified in Internal Medicine and or board-certified or board-eligible in Medical Oncology or Hematology. Salary and benefits will be competitive with other institutions.
