 Center Director

The Department of Medical Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) and the Department of Medicine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), announce a search for a physician director at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to lead the Center for Cancer Therapeutic Innovation (CCTI). The successful candidate will lead state-of-the art research to advance the understanding of safe drug development and translate these scientific discoveries into effective cancer drugs. The Director will work with Division Chiefs and Clinical Directors of DFCI’s Department of Medical Oncology to build an interactive, multidisciplinary team of investigators focused on conducting high impact investigation in all areas of cancer therapeutics and will work in conjunction with institutional leaders including the Chief Clinical Research Officer.

The Director of the Center for Cancer Therapeutic Innovation must have experience in clinical research, academic leadership, and a high level of knowledge of the drug development industry to advance cancer therapeutics at DFCI. The ideal candidate who has a scientific vision with focus on the identification of the events that cause human tumors, and the translation of this information into novel ways to diagnose, treat and prevent cancers.

The Center Director will interact productively with colleagues in the clinical divisions and form close partnerships with clinicians involved in the care of patients. The Director of the CCTI will be expected to demonstrate success in three areas:

  1. Facilitating movement of internal DFCI-generated ideas into the clinic either through partnership with industry or internal collaborations. Partnering with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies of all size to conduct phase I research in novel therapeutics, novel combinations across clinical divisions, and more broad-based “basket trials” for targeted therapies. Enabling investigator-initiated novel therapeutic combinations and biomarker-driven studies that span multiple malignancies.

The successful candidate will also have opportunities to provide mentorship and educational offerings to Harvard’s graduate and medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty.

Academic appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements.  Salary and benefits will be competitive with other institutions.

Applicants should have an MD or MD/PhD degree and should be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest by email along with their CV and the names and email addresses of three references to:
