The Department of Clinical Genetics of Fox Chase Cancer Center invites applications for a full-time assistant professor or associate professor position. Applicants should have a clinical background in medical oncology with interest/training in Clinical Cancer Genetics and Cancer Risk Assessment. In the clinical setting, this individual will practice in weekly disease-specific medical oncology clinics, a weekly high-risk clinic as well as genetic counseling results disclosures in conjunction with our genetic counseling staff.

Our Risk Assessment Program was established in 1991 as one of the first in the nation to offer comprehensive services aimed at personalizing cancer risk estimation, prevention, and early diagnosis. Since that time, our high[1]volume clinical program has expanded beyond main campus operations with weekly genetic counseling appointments offered at our Buckingham, East Norriton, and Temple main sites, which is supported by our 6 genetic counselors.

Our program also includes high-risk screening clinics that offer long-term follow up care for those at risk for breast, gastrointestinal, ovarian, prostate, and other cancer risks that are run by our department faculty and 3 advanced practice providers. The department has a long-standing commitment to research.

For this position, the applicant would be encouraged and supported to have their own and/or collaborative research in their respective oncology disease site as well as in the areas of prevention, molecular genetics, behavioral science, or epidemiology/outcomes. Active research opportunities are ongoing and available to faculty in several areas, including the Fox Chase RAP prospective database, which includes over 10,000 families and over 2,000 mutation carriers, the NCI-Breast Cancer Family Registry, a Lynch syndrome registry of over 200 families, the Prostate Risk Assessment Program registry of men at high risk of prostate cancer, including well-curated survey and bio-specimens on over 850 male participants, chemoprevention research and basic science laboratory collaboration, including a recently funded Cancer Prevention-Interception Targeted Agent Discovery Program (CAP-IT) Center (U54) for development or targeted therapies in hereditary cancer risk.

Our program also actively participates in hereditary cancer risks guideline committees and educational committees through the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and others. Applicants should be eligible for a Pennsylvania medical license and should have completed an approved US hematology/oncology fellowship program.
