Position Description
The Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology of McGill University and the Department of Medicine, McGill University Health Centre, invite applications for a full-time Clinician-Scientist and Medical Oncologist at the rank of Associate or Full Professor as a member of the Tenure Track staff.

The Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology is responsible for promoting excellence in research, teaching, and cancer care across the McGill campus and within its affiliated hospitals and research institutes. Department members are engaged in ground-breaking basic research and offer an outstanding training environment for graduate students. The Department also contributes to excellent clinical training in cancer care and translational research within the oncology programs at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC), the Jewish General Hospital, and St. Mary’s Hospital. In addition, the Department is a leader within the Rossy Cancer Network (RCN), an initiative to promote the use and development of integrated, patient-centered approaches to quality cancer care across McGill’s affiliated cancer programs.

Collectively, the Department’s members have a broad range of experience and expertise in oncology clinical care and cancer research. Clinically, the Department encompasses medical, surgical and radiation oncology, hematologic-oncology, gynecologic-oncology, radiation physics, cancer genetics, and expertise in psychosocial oncology, palliative, and supportive care. Research within the Department ranges from basic science to population health, medical physics to psychosocial oncology and palliative care. Clinical research is tightly integrated with clinical care.

Job Duties
The candidate will play an important role in raising the McGill University Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology, the Cedars Cancer Center at the MUHC, and the Rossy Cancer Network to be among the highest ranked oncology research and practice entities in North America. The successful candidate will be expected to promote innovative clinical cancer care emphasizing precision oncology and contribute to a world-class clinical research program across the Rossy Cancer Network of McGill University. The successful candidate will also be appointed as Director of the Division of Medical Oncology at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences will also recommend the successful candidate’s appointment as inaugural holder of the Rossy Cedars Chair in Precision Oncology. The successful candidate is expected to lead the Division’s clinical, teaching, and research programs while pursuing their own academic career. The incumbent will be the Director of the Division of Medical Oncology, Department of Medicine, and McGill University Health Centre, leading a dynamic group of 11 medical oncologists through a period of clinical and academic renewal. Clinical responsibilities will include rounding on the clinical teaching units, covering consult services, attending in outpatient clinics, and taking evening and weekend on call duties in Medical Oncology. The candidate should be actively involved in cancer research of the highest quality, with the ambitions to lead and grow a research team. While any area of cancer research is welcome, preference would be in the field of precision oncology and clinical trials.

The candidate is also expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (teaching, research, and other scholarly duties), which includes the teaching and supervision of a diverse group of clinical trainees and graduate students. McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. Qualifications and Education Requirements

Candidates must:

• Hold an MD degree, and have completed subspecialty training in Medical Oncology;

• Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent);

• Must hold or be eligible for licensure as a Medical Oncologist with the Collège des médecins du Québec;

• Have demonstrated excellence in research with a strong publication record;

• Holding a doctoral degree (or equivalent) and possessing advanced research training in a relevant area related to precision oncology will be considered an asset;

• Be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families, and health care professionals;
