Job Details

MHCCN is seeking several sub-specialty based as well as general hematologist-oncologists at various locations.  The MHCCN is state wide, integrated care delivery network across the Southern, Coastal, and Mountain regions of Maine and eastern New Hampshire. The network is comprised of 11 hospital partners and provides comprehensive cancer care to more than 7000 analytic cancer patients annually. MHCCN also incorporates a robust research program through membership of the NCI’s Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) and offers opportunities for academic advancement with faculty position of the Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM). The following positions are available:

Maine Health Cancer Center, South Portland:     1. Medical oncologist with interest in Breast cancer 2. Medical Oncologist with interest in Gastroenterology and Genitourinary malignancies.  3. Hematologist caring for malignant as well as benign hematological disorders. The South Portland practice is a hybrid academic-community based, fully subspecialized practice of eleven physicians and 5 APRNs.  Inpatient care is provided at the Maine Medical Center, the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and an affiliate of TUSM. Call rotation is approximately one week out of 9, supported by hospitalists and house-staff. Potential for protected academic time for interested candidates meeting selection criteria is available.

Southern Maine Health Center (SMHC) Cancer Care, Sanford, ME- The Cancer Care Center at SMHC is seeking two general hematologist-oncologists for its general oncology practice of two experienced hematologist-oncologists and two APRNs.  Inpatient care at SMHC is provided by hospitalists. Shared after-hour calls are 1:4.

Waldo County General Hospital (WCGH), Belfast, ME and Pen Bay Medical Center (PBMC), Rockport, ME -The Oncology Centers at PBMC and WCGH are seeking one general hematologist-oncologist for their rapidly growing general oncology practices, to be divided equally between these two locations. Inpatient care is provided predominantly by hospitalists at these sites. Shared after-hour calls are approximately 1:6.

St. Mary’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Lewiston, ME- This center is seeking general hematologist-oncologists for its busy and growing practice supported by advanced practitioners.  Inpatient care is provided by hospitalists.

Required Qualifications: - A degree in medicine from an accredited medical school. Successful completion of Residency/Fellowship at an accredited program. BC/BE for hematology or hematology and oncology. New graduates and those early in their careers are especially encouraged to apply – there is strong mentorship program.  Full-time position at MHCCN is defined as four days a week in the outpatient clinic and one day of administrative time.  Part time option available for suitable candidates. The SMHC, PBMC/WCGH and Lewiston positions qualify for J-1 waivers.
