The State University of New York, Upstate Medical University’s Norton College of Medicine (“SUNY Upstate”) is seeking a Division Chief for Hematology and Oncology to oversee the growth and expansion of an already highly-respected division within the institution. The candidate must possess a MD, DO, or equivalent degree and have significant experiences in the clinical and research arenas in addition to demonstrated leadership. The division is currently home to 15 faculty members, additional advanced practice providers, and operates a 3-year hematology/oncology fellowship program (with 12 fellows) while also providing supervision and education to medical students and core internal medicine housestaff.
The candidate will have clinical responsibilities, research opportunities, and teaching assignments while also mentoring colleagues and trainees within the division. In addition, the candidate will liaise with other divisions, departments, and institutional leadership in the Upstate Cancer Center to further our tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education in hematologic and oncologic disease.
The Upstate Cancer Center is the leading regional referral site for approximately 1.8 million people spread over 17 counties in Central New York. The Cancer Center operates out of a dedicated 150,000 square foot state-of-art facility adjacent to the main academic campus that supports comprehensive multidisciplinary cancer programs. Regional cancer care is provided in 8 satellite offices with a new multidisciplinary center opening in 2023. Clinical research is supported by dedicated Cancer Center administrative personnel and integrated with a strong core of basic and translational investigators.
