Position Summary:   

The Medical Director will be responsible for providing scientific and medical expertise to the Medical Affairs function at Seagen, as well as other cross-functional teams across the company. This person will report to the Executive Director, Medical Affairs Strategy and drive the development of medical strategies and the execution of tactics for the ADCETRIS (brentuximab vedotin) program. The role will interface with multiple functions across medical affairs, clinical development, commercial (e.g., marketing, sales, managed markets), health economics/outcomes research, regulatory, safety, external partners, and healthcare professionals. 

Principal Responsibilities:   

  • Drive the development and execution of medical affairs strategies and tactics 
  • Represent Medical Affairs and serve as a medical expert on specific projects within the department and on cross-functional teams 
  • Develop and execute strategies for the scientific utilization of data generated by Seagen preclinical and clinical studies, as well as data generated from other sources 
  • Participate on cross-functional medical affairs teams with the goal of developing and implementing integrated medical strategies and deliverables for Seagen products 
  • Serve as a medical reviewer on external-facing materials (e.g., Standard Response Documents (SRD), FAQs, Promotional Review Committee (PARC) escalations) 
  • Collaborate with internal and field medical teams to support the development of reactive resources to address healthcare professional questions 
  • Help identify and engage oncology thought leaders in scientific exchange to meet the needs of patients and advance the science 
  • Collaborate with medical communications and medical writing on the preparation of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts  

Required Qualifications:   

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD or PharmD) required 
  • 6+ years of prior medical affairs or clinical development experience at a biotech/pharmaceutical company and/or healthcare organization 
  • Collaborative mindset with track record of effectively working on cross-functional teams 
  • Ability to understand and simplify scientific concepts 
  • Strategic thinking skills 
  • Clear and influential communicator 
  • Ability/willingness to occasionally travel (~20%)  

Preferred Qualifications:   

  • Prior Medical Affairs experience 
  • Experience in oncology, specifically in lymphoma 
  • Experience driving medical strategies and tactics

The hiring pay range for this position is $202,000 to $262,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
