Medical Oncologist - Genitourinary Malignancies - Urologic Oncology Branch (UOB) NCI

The Urologic Oncology Branch, Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), is seeking a medical oncologist to serve as an integral member of our clinical research team, contributing to the development of clinical research protocols focused on new therapeutic agents and caring for patients with genitourinary malignancies enrolled on these trials.  The Urologic Oncology Branch is focused on the early clinical development of novel therapeutic strategies relevant to genitourinary malignancies, with a particular emphasis on kidney cancer. The UOB conducts mechanism based clinical trials that target specific genetic, epigenetic, and metabolic alterations, in individual subtypes of kidney cancer as well as clinical studies evaluating novel immunotherapy strategies. The development and conduct of these trials involve close cooperation between medical oncologists, urologic surgeons, and basic/translational scientists.

CCR is the largest component of the intramural biomedical research effort at NIH and a major user of the NIH Clinical Research Center, a state-of-the-art research hospital on the campus of NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. Research beds are plentiful and CCR offers a robust clinical infrastructure to support cutting edge clinical research trials.    The research environment is highly conducive to advancing translational research and is highly collaborative, emphasizing multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team science.

The ideal candidate should have an M.D. degree or equivalent, subspecialty training in medical oncology and experience and/or an interest in clinical research.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
