The University of Oklahoma NCI designated Stephenson Cancer Center (SCC), in conjunction with OU Health and  the OU Department of Medicine seek a nationally recognized clinician-scientist to provide strategic leadership for the clinical, educational, outreach, and research programs within the section of solid tumor medical oncology. As Section Chief, Solid Tumor Oncology, the incoming leader will oversee a team of 12 medical oncologists with immediate opportunity to recruit additional faculty to the growing program. The incoming Chief will join during a time of rapid growth and will have a unique opportunity to guide the program through a major statewide expansion. This key position is supported by an endowed chair and additional resources to effectively recruit and further build innovative programs. Additional leadership opportunities within SCC exist for qualified applicants.

Providing the full spectrum of clinical and academic solid tumor medical oncology, section faculty specialize within multidisciplinary, disease specific programs with specialized tumor boards, clinics, supportive care teams, and research teams. SCC is Oklahoma's only NCI-Designated Cancer Center and offers the state’s only CAR-T therapy and comprehensive stem cell transplant program. The solid tumor section will be closely aligned with the Section of Hematologic Malignancy, Transplant, and Cellular Therapy – especially regarding education and research. 

SCC is a lead accruing institution in the Lead Academic Participating Sites (LAPS) sponsored by the NCI. Their 130 member investigators are currently working on more than 400 cancer research projects, supported by $65 million of annual research funding from the National Institutes of Health, American Cancer Society, and others. The incoming Chief should have a record of productive research, as demonstrated by a history of peer-reviewed publications, extramural funding and/or clinical trials activity. 

Minimum Qualifications

• MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree from an approved medical school
• Board certification in Medical Oncology
• Unrestricted medical license, or ability to acquire licensure, and DEA in the State of Oklahoma
• Academic credentials commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor or Professor

The Stephenson Cancer Center and OUHSC are located in Oklahoma City, often shortened to OKC, the state capital and largest city in the state.
