Our ideal candidate would be an early to mid-career medical oncologist focused on head and neck and thoracic malignancies with leadership skills to help drive the growth and visibility of our multidisciplinary program here at Mayo Clinic AZ. The successful candidate will be able to partner with our internationally recognized surgical, medical, and radiation teams in a multidisciplinary clinic; initiate, run and develop clinical trials; recruit future colleagues and drive innovation across the spectrum of care. The applicant will have a primary focus on Head and Neck cancers and a secondary focus on Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma, and Thymic Cancers. A solid track record in publication and clinical trials design and conduct, is desirable. The applicant will have the opportunity to provide mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows and to more junior faculty where applicable. The successful applicant will be supported to help their academic practice and reputation nationally and internationally.
Our comprehensive Head and Neck and Thoracic Oncology groups consist of top ranked specialists representing an all-comprehensive interdisciplinary team with unique expertise. Mayo Clinic in Arizona has established the first program for larynx and trachea transplant approved by the United Network for Organ Sharing. Our thoracic surgeons perform the highest volume of thoracic robotic and minimally invasive cases in AZ (and the Mayo system). Working together, we have enjoyed a close working relationship in pioneering patient care and patient clinical trial enrollment. Our team works with the full spectrum of advanced technologies including Proton Beam Radiation therapy, an on-site cyclotron for synthesis of novel radiopharmaceuticals, and GMP facilities for manufacture of cellular therapies. Cancer care at Mayo is managed collaboratively across the campuses in Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota, so the applicant will also have access to the combined resources of the entire Mayo Clinic network. This includes over 200 oncologists and hematologists, CORE research facilities, Pathology, clinical records, and over 2000 faculty involved in cancer care.
