The Department of Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is growing its Hematology/Oncology program in West Texas. Brand NEW Cancer Center opening in 2025 State-of-the-art infusion center, strong disease-specific tumor boards, nurse navigation, and symptom management clinic.

Clinical Oncologist Expectations:
- 4 clinical days/week with patient expectations of 20-30 patients per day.
- Full day of administrative time built-in (4-day week)
- Salary at 75% MGMA with RVU bonus
- Chiefly outpatient practice within a state-of-the-art cancer center with some inpatient consultations on a rotational basis.
Academic Oncologist Expectations:
- 3-6 Half days of clinical care with patient expectations of 15-20 patients per day
- Protected academic time based on research or teaching responsibilities
- Salary at 50% AAMC with RVU bonus
- Chiefly outpatient practice within a state-of-the-art cancer center with some inpatient consultations on rotational basis
In addition to the TTUHSC/UMC Cancer Center facility, TTUHSC conducts laboratory and clinical cancer research at UMC. Investigators are funded by the NCI, the Department of Defense, and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). The Center is home to a regional consortium that carries out cancer biobanking and phase I and II clinical trials (www.SPONC.org). The Children’s Oncology Group Childhood Cancer Repository (www.COGcell.org) is in the Center. A CPRIT-funded grant to the Center established the Texas Regional Excellence in Cancer Developmental Therapeutics Center at TTUHSC.
