Northwell Health Cancer Institute seeks a board-certified System Chief of Solid Tumors to join our growing multidisciplinary program. Together with Dr. Richard Carvajal, Deputy Physician in Chief and Director of Hematology/Medical Oncology, this position will have the unique opportunity to build disease-centric programmatic teams throughout the Northwell Health footprint that spans all levels and functions. The System Chief will report to the Deputy Physician-in-Chief with the responsibility of building and managing a team that includes disease-based, regional and hospital/site leaders within Northwell Health’s matrixed organizational structure.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with leadership to implement the clinical, teaching and research vision for solid tumor oncology services at the Northwell Health Cancer Institute. The new System Chief will play a key role in quality management by providing oversight of medical care provided by members of the clinical team, as well as Quality Management for the program. In addition, this role will work collaboratively with our faculty to continually develop our Disease Management Teams and ensure the delivery of outstanding and evidence-based clinical care.
As a research leader, the ideal candidate will serve a critical role in directing the expansion of clinical trials across Northwell Health. By establishing relationships with researchers at the Feinstein Institute and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, the position will help increase access to oncology clinical trials to patients in the communities we serve.
As an educator, the ideal candidate will participate regularly in educational activities. Through collaboration with medical school leadership, they will train the next generation of physicians at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

This collaboration also enhances the potential to bring early phase clinical trials to our patients, in addition to existing offerings of cancer clinical trials to patients throughout the region.
