Job Summary
The Associate Chief Medical Officer (aCMO) is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and directing all clinical and pharmacy operations and executing the clinical strategy at OncoHealth. This role ensures the development and execution of innovative, evidence-based programs that enhance patient outcomes, improve cost-effectiveness, and align with customer goals. This position bridges clinical expertise with operational excellence to advance oncology care in a highly dynamic and regulated environment.
Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership (10%)
- Define and lead the organization's managed care strategy, focusing on oncology drug management, evidence-based guidelines, and alignment with payer objectives.
- Stay at the forefront of trends and innovations in oncology care, benefits management, and regulatory compliance, ensuring the organization's services remain cutting-edge and competitive.
- Collaborate extensively and effectively across internal functions such as Product, Analytics, Client Success, Sales and Marketing.
2. Operational Excellence (50%)
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the oncology utilization management program.
- Participate as a team member by performing prior authorization case reviews, which will constitute 30-40% of the role's time.
- Drive operational efficiency and scalability while maintaining high-quality standards for service delivery.
- In collaboration with Compliance, ensure adherence to all federal, state, and payer-specific regulations governing oncology services.
3. Clinical Expertise and Oversight (10%)
- Lead clinical teams in evaluating oncology drug therapies, ensuring timely and informed recommendations for utilization management.
- Guide the development of clinical policies and procedures that integrate the latest evidence-based guidelines.
4. Customer Engagement and Partnership (10%)
- Serve as the primary clinical and managed care liaison to health plan customers, ensuring programs are tailored to their needs and delivering excellent outcomes.
- Collaborate with customers to develop custom solutions that balance cost containment with access to innovative therapies.
5. Leadership and Team Development (10%)
- Build and mentor a high-performing team of Medical Directors, clinical pharmacists, nurses, and other support staff.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Also required for every job at OncoHealth is participation in the Company’s Quality Management Program to continually improve processes and outcomes. This includes planning for improvement, process design, performance measurement, performance assessment, and performance improvement. (10%)
Job Requirements
Education: Medical Doctor (MD) or equivalent required; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, MHA) is preferred.
Licensure and Certification: Current unrestricted Medical Doctor license in good standing recognized in the United States. Board certification in an oncology-oriented area is required.
Experience: Typical years of experience are 7 years of progressive leadership experience in managed care, with significant expertise in oncology utilization management or pharmacy benefit management (PBM). Some incumbents may gain these skills or capabilities in other ways and must be demonstrated. Proven track record of success in managing oncology drug formularies, utilization policies, and payer relations. Strong understanding of the oncology drug pipeline, including clinical, financial, and operational implications.
Systems/Tools: MS Office Suite proficient.
